Splash! School Grants

The DEADLINE to apply for the 2016-2017 school year was August 31, 2016.

All applicants need to review the Splash School Grant Overview and read the additional information below before registering or logging in.

  • Eligibility – Public and charter school teachers within the SWFWMD boundaries are eligible to apply for their class, teaching team or grade-level. A larger student reach is preferred, and as such science clubs and extra-curricular groups are no longer eligible. Multiple grants can be awarded at one school but the sum of the grants cannot exceed $3,000 per school.
  • Selection by lottery system – Applications are reviewed for completeness and alignment to freshwater resources and the grant type chosen. Each application submitted is automatically assigned a number. These numbers are entered into a computerized lottery system, and grants are awarded based upon the lottery system. The number of grants awarded per school district is based on available funding in that county.
  • Notification – Grantees will be notified of acceptance or denial via email no later than September 30, 2016.
  • Funding – The SWFWMD does not directly reimburse grantees or their schools. Your school district will provide the funding and will be reimbursed by the SWFWMD after the grant cycle closes and all required documentation is submitted by the grantee. Please keep in mind this grant is a reimbursement-only grant and all reimbursements, with no exceptions, will be made in accordance with Florida Statutes. The SWFWMD reserves the right to audit the use of the funds to meet the public purpose.
